SchoolProtect User Guide

For advice from LGfL regarding the use of the below settings & using YouTube alongside Google Workspace, please visit https://youtube.lgfl.net

LGfL schools are set to strict settings by default to ensure pupils are as safe as possible until a school decides according to their risk assessment to change their restriction settings.

Schools which find the strict settings too limiting can change to moderate settings. Please note: whilst many schools use this option, it can still generate undesirable or offensive results as these are based on a Google algorithm which we cannot detected.

An alternative is to use Google Workspace to override a block for a particular video or even apply a different settings to certain users (e.g. your DNS mode could be set to strict and your Google Workspace mode for logged in users in a Staff Organisational Unit could be set to moderate).

For details of using Google Workspace accounts for different YouTube settings, please see https://youtube.lgfl.net

To change your DNS mode settings, please open a support case to request one of the options listed below.

Please note: schools that have previously implemented conditional DNS forwarding rules and did so in order to use Google DNS just for YouTube -applying the new DNS settings will mean the conditional DNS forwarding is no longer required.
